Crazy Sunday :)

Hi All !!!I have found a beautiful song that I think you will all love!! It is on page 9 of this month's (December 2009) New Era. It is called "Mary, Sweet and Tender Maiden." As I played it through, I could hear your beautiful voices singing it so beautifully and clear. Also, you can hear it at newera.lds.org and can download to an MP3.

You can also read the latest in the New Era at this website. If you really like it, maybe we could sing it at the Ward Christmas Party on December 11th? What do you think? I think it would be awesome!! Bring your December New Era with you this Wednesday.

Hey, Laurels, thanks for taking care of children in Primary today!! I know the Primary workers appreciated the opportunity to go to the special meeting.

We missed.... Kaycee, Kelsey, Allison, Claudia, Barbara, Tonesha, Keena, Cindy, Claudia, Delilah, Melissa, and Sister Altendorf today!!! See you all on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.

"Country" Princesses- a Job Offer

Hi Poolesville Girls...
There is a woman in town, not a member of the church, who is looking for a baby sitter on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:00 - 5:00 pm for her two children, ages 8 and 4. She needs someone to meet them when they get dropped off by the bus and stay with them, do homework, etc. until 5:00 pm. She pays $10.00 an hour. Sounds like a great job and if four days is too much of a commitment for you, perhaps she would be willing to have you job share, so two of you could take turns. Of course, I am sure it would have to be a regular schedule. Maybe two days and two days or three days and one day? Anyway, let me know if you are interested and I will give her your name for an interview. First ones who call, will get first dibs.
Love you gals..

A Thank You

Dear Princesses,

I wanted to thank each of you for the wonderful surprise on Sunday! The quilt was beautiful and you absolutely made my day. It was the best birthday present I got this year and something that I will always cherish. Thanks so much for the time, effort and thoughtfulness that you put into making me such a wonderful gift---those are the best kind. I am so lucky to have been able to serve in Young Women and to get to know each of you. I'm so glad that I have something that reminds me of you and of the fun times that we had together.

You girls are the best!

Love,
Mrs. Potts (beauty and the beast- so cute!)

P.S. I think you have made all of the Relief Society sisters want to be called to serve in Young Women. Between your great surprise for me in Relief Society and Sister Hancock's story in sacrament meeting about the help she got canning pears, I think they would all like to adopt you. :)

Laurels Only (sorry miamaids and beehives)

Hi Laurel Class...

Long, but important email.. please take time to read it....

As some of you know, the Laurels are in charge of the activities in September, with the 30th being an activity for Laurels only. This is your time to give feed back to Jasmine, your president. These are ideas that many of you have suggested, so we hope this final list looks great to you. I think it would be wonderful if you could show the younger girls how to plan, prepare, and follow through with an activity. These will turn out great if you all contribute some way. Please feel free to offer help to Jasmine.

I will be away until the 9th (11:45 pm) to visit my very ill brother and to take Jennifer back to school. Please feel free to email me or call my cell phone. I will be available most of the time!

"Fairy GodMother"

September 9 - 1st half - Thumbelina will give a brief 'lesson' or inspirational preview about missionary work to the YW. Then the girls will write letters to the Elders which must include their favorite scripture and why. Letters are to remain unsealed and proofread by Sister Hancock to check for appropriateness. They will then be sealed and mailed. Missionaries are Eli Udy, Sean Endicott, Kenneth Knudson, Joel Marshall, Josh Gishi. 2nd half - Jasmine will contact Kingsview MS to see if we can clean up trash on their athletic fields. Following, Popsicles or some other cool, wet treat will be served. Other things to think about... paper (Thumbelina), envelopes (Laurel?), markers (Sister Hancock?), trash bags (Laurel?), gathering of addresses from parents for mailing letters (Laurel?), treats (Laurel?)

7:00 - 7:10 pm Opening w/ YM (Jsmine Conducts this month)

7:10 - 7:45 pm Letter Writing

7:45 - 8:20 pm Clean up Kingsview

8:20 - 8:30 pm Popsicles

September 16 - "Brand New Year" Celebration - 2nd part of DVD; girls will fill out new goal cards; balloon launch in the parking lot. Also, web address for downloading church music to I-pods and phones will be made available. The Laurels will also show the girls which Personal Progress values they can use with this activity. Will sign off any books, if possible. Girls should bring PP books to this meeting.

September 23 - "Modesty" DVD followed with a fashion show by five young Relief Society sisters in the ward. Categories to model will be wedding dress, work clothes, Sunday clothes, casual wear, school clothes, beach attire. "Modest is Hottest" lip gloss will be given to each girl. We will also make arrangements for Sister Shields to join us for a few minutes that night so we can give her quilt to her. That will probably take place at the beginning of the evening.

September 30 - Sister Larue, the Stake Preparedness Specialist will teach the Laurels about cooking on a simple budget for college, etc. She will compare restaurant prices to 'do-it-yourself' prices. We will bake and then eat. The girls will also begin a personal cookbook or recipe file.

Hi to All,
As we are getting ever so close to camp, I have a ton of things to address, so bear with me. Many of these have been questions that have come from parents and leaders the last week or so.*

As of this moment I have 84 YW registrations. I am ordering all the paraphernalia associated with camp Wed. and Thurs. There will be very little wiggle room to order extras, so if you are still thinking about any girl that may come to camp let me know. This is at last minute as it gets if you want the girls to have all the cool stuff we buy! P.S. if you need to pay for any of your girls please do so. I know there are a feww unpaid girls floating around out there!*

Camp Kick-off is this Sat. July 25th 10am-1pm at the Bar-t Ranch (off Rt.108) Bring modest swimsuit and towel for swim time. Lunch is provided. This is for all campers, YCL's, Leaders and anyone associated with YW.*

All girls Need to have a Camp book. This will make life easier for them. Plus how do you sign -off without a book? Every one needs a book. Sorry I already said that! Bring that camp book to Camp Kick off Saturday. (Girls, let me know (Sister Ogden) if you need a book. I have two extras I can bring w/ me on Wednesday eve. YOU NEED YOUR CAMP BOOK!!)*

If you a YW Pres or Camp director, please start asking parents to help drive girls up and back from your ward. I will have copies of directions at camp kick off and I can resend them to you via e-mail. We ask that the campers arrive Tues, Aug 11th @ 9Am and may be picked up Friday @ 11:30am. Leaders and YCL's will go to camp Monday, Aug 10th. People going on Monday need a bag lunch.

Campers on Tues do not need a bag lunch.*I have had many inquiries this week about people willing to come and help at camp. I thank you so much for your kind offers. We are fully and totally staffed. As much as I wish everyone that wants to come can, we have to be practical. If an emergency comes up, I know there are several options because of all the great volunteers!

Ok that's all! If you need anything let me know, We are all excited for camp. Really we are!!

Deserts for Fundraiser

Hi all..

I just wanted to clarify the plan for Friday. We will meet at the church at 5:00 pm to set up and get ready for the dinner and auction. We asked you to bring a dessert with you, but we have decided that it would be best to serve the same dessert to all. We will be having brownie treats with a lovely topping.

Please bring 18 brownies, pre-cut, around 3" x 3". You may need to make two batches if you are using a mix. They should be cooled before you cut them AND HERE IS A HELPFUL HINT>>>> if you cut them with a plastic knife, they will not get all sticky and fall apart. We are counting on all of you bringing the brownies or there may be some of our guests without dessert.

This Wednesday, bring your completed ward calling lists that we gave you to call for the dinner.
Have a lovely evening.

Sis Ogden (smile)

ANA, MAEGAN, MELISSA... Please be sure that every one of your class members knows this info. Thanks!

Temple Trip

Hey guys, about the temple trip, i can't tell you how many times i have told this to SOOO many people, if you forget the SLIGHTEST THING- it can effect you IMMENSLY!!! I am writing a basic list of things NEVER to forget about a temple trip

  • Arrive on time(6:15 at the church!) -it really helps with the spiritual feeling- also
  • NEVER try to listen to something un-churchy on the way, it throws off your mindset COMPLETLY,
  • try talking about confrence why Uchdorf styles his hair that way or why Propehts never reveal there Full middle name, primary songs, efy themes, scripture chases STAY ON THE TOPIC OF CHURCH!
  • just leave drama COMPLETLY for that one day, leave all your worries behind go to la-la land, or hakuna matata do what you need to do but PLEASE do NOT go there thinking what who and who said or this guy is so cute or why am i going- it just ruins the entire experience
  • GET A MEAL BEFORE HAND!! it helps feel the spirit, if your not thinking of a meal... (unless your fasting of course...)

Also Girls always forget what to bring, so here is the most helpful thing i can show you, the must bring list...

Temple "i wish i had remembered" list...
A spare set of under garments! (yours will get wet)
Shampoo and Conditioner
A hairbrush/comb
Deoderant
Hair accesories (all they have are scrunchies)
Tampons!! (if you need them of course)
Soap
A notebook/jornal for things you remember
a pen/ highlighter
your scriptures

HoPe To SeE yOu ThErE!

P.S- if you aren't going inside the temple- there will still be a youth trip going to the visitors center, it will also be really spiritual with a little bit more slack, and its going to be really fun, watching movies on the big screen and everything

The name is new, the color is shiny, the alumni are back to help us back to victory the WARRIORS are back this season, with the naew color, gold to symbolize the place they belong (first..duh!) and we are excited as ever!!!

Orders of Burisness:
First Game: We DOMINATED! it was absolutley amazing, with wonderful teamwork, and having fun (the most important goal!)
Second Game: We once again Dominated, it was really cool we got to 49-6, which is pretty much AWESOME! there was no mercy, and we even scored a 2 point shot for them (thank you Ana haha)
Third Game: We still won, the warriors taking the lead with 3 less players then usual...

We made it to facing Derwood, the trickiest game of the season, a analogy worthy- griffindor vs. slytherin, its that intense- will Seneca face the Challenge- OF COURSE!
